Rituals of Memory
Kimberly Blaeser's essay "Rituals of Memory" discuss her life experiences growing up as an American Catholic and Natibe American. Blaeser compares her friends curly hair to our relationships to family, place, and community because they are connected and intertwined. Blaeser argues that memories and story telling shape who we are. Blaeser uses the money of Memorial Day spent with the Legionaries visiting cemeteries and the Indian burial grounds as an example of a time when her two cultures came together. Blaeser talks about her Catholic school and her Native American life; she also thinks that her life at home is a little bit more important than her school life. Blaeser's records and documents from the Church, and her Native American heritage all define who she is.
